The Local Brownsville Deli Reopens

The Brownsville Deli has long had a reputation as a Bremerton landmark. It was where dockworkers once grabbed hot coffee at dawn, where high school sweethearts shared sandwiches after class, and where generations of locals met for food and stories.
So when the deli closed its doors it felt like a chapter of Bremerton’s heart had quietly closed. But on a bright crisp October morning, the bell above the front door rang once more.
Inside, the Deli has been completely renovated with newly polished concrete floors and larger built out kitchen to open up the floor space. There is also lots of casual seating “Our goal is for it to be cozy and casual where we are inviting people to linger” says owner Amy Musselwhite.
Beyond having a wonderful atmosphere, the new owners pride themselves on a thoughtful menu, including several specialty sandwiches like The Beefster – thinly sliced ribeye seasoned and grilled and piled high with caramelized onions, provolone cheese, and arugula with house made white sauce. Their Reuben is a popular local favorite and there will always be homemade soups on the menu! The desserts are really divine, like the homemade Iced Spiced Babies (homemade cream cheese frosting sandwiched between two spiced oatmeal and cranberry cookies!), and always baked in house.
“We are focusing on creating a gathering space where people want to hang out. There will also be live music offerings and wine tastings.” says Amy.
People are lining up out the door, not just for sandwiches, but for the memories. It is a great place to connect over delicious food.
As the sun dipped low and laughter filled the air, watching generations come together. The Brownsville Deli wasn’t just open again—it was reborn. And in a town that had changed so much, this little place remained what it had always been: a home-grown shared experience.
