Puyallup Invites You to Celebrate Independence Day Weekend with Red, White & KABOOM and America 250

PUYALLUP, WA — The City of Puyallup and the Puyallup Sumner Chamber of Commerce is preparing for an unforgettable Independence Day weekend as a major signature community celebration and a 250th celebration come together to honor America’s birthday and celebrate the spirit of community, patriotism, and summer fun.

Beginning on Friday, July 3, families and visitors are invited to attend Red, White & KABOOM, The Puyallup/Sumner Chamber’s ultimate summer celebration at the Washington State Fairgrounds. The event features live music, a beer garden, food trucks, a 5K hosted by All Things Fun Sports!, family-friendly activities, and a spectacular professional fireworks display to close out the evening.

Guests can purchase a vehicle pass for the Gold Lot and enjoy a unique drive-in fireworks experience or bring chairs and blankets to enjoy the festivities from designated viewing areas.

The celebration continues on Saturday, July 4, as downtown Puyallup hosts the community’s America 250 Celebration, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

The City of Puyallup at Pioneer Park in downtown Puyallup will come alive with patriotic activities, community engagement, live entertainment, military and veteran recognition, food vendors, a beer garden, and an evening concert featuring the band Hair Nation.

The day will also coincide with the popular Puyallup Farmers Market hosting by the Puyallup Main Street Association, taking place from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, offering fresh produce, artisan goods, local vendors, and family-friendly activities.

A highlight of the America 250 Celebration will be a formal patriotic program presented in partnership with the American Legion. The ceremony will include the Presentation of Colors, National Anthem, Pledge of Allegiance, a public reading of the Declaration of Independence, and a special brass band performance.

Additional activities will include:

  • Cruise Puyallup will be hosting a cruise and car show from 9am to 9pm
  • Military and veterans services area
  • Community information booths
  • Food and beverage vendors
  • Live music and entertainment throughout the day
  • Patriotic displays and decorations throughout downtown
  • Special recognition of veterans and active-duty military personnel

“This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to celebrate our nation’s 250th anniversary while showcasing everything that makes Puyallup such a special community,” said Alison Schafer, Executive Director of the Puyallup Sumner Chamber of Commerce. “From fireworks and family activities on July 3 to a full day of patriotic festivities on July 4, there truly is something for everyone.”

The Chamber and the City extends its appreciation to event partners including the American Legion, VFW Post 2224, Cruise Puyallup, Puyallup Main Street Association, Arts Downtown, the Washington State Fair, and the many volunteers and sponsors helping bring these celebrations to life.

Community members are encouraged to make Puyallup their destination for the entire Independence Day weekend and enjoy the many events, businesses, restaurants, and attractions the city has to offer.
